KINDERGARTEN IN PAPAGOU

The design for the Papagou Kindergarten focuses on creating a harmonious relationship between the new structure and its surrounding urban and natural environment, with a particular emphasis on preserving the area’s green spaces and community character.
To integrate the new building into its context, the massing is carefully modulated to align with the existing urban scale and rhythm, avoiding a monolithic appearance and instead achieving a dynamic interplay between volumes. By lowering the building towards the park side and introducing a transparent, semi-public ground level, the design strengthens the connection between the kindergarten and its surrounding green areas, creating a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor spaces.
The building also works to enhance the pedestrian experience, improving connections between the surrounding green spaces and public areas. Overall, this design not only fulfills the functional requirements of a modern educational facility but also contributes to the urban regeneration of the area, creating a public space that fosters interaction, community engagement, and a stronger connection to the natural environment. It sets a precedent for future developments in the area, offering a balanced approach to urban growth that values both the built and natural environments
