At Molior Architects, we believe that every addition to an existing structure should honor the original building’s integrity while enhancing its functionality and aesthetic appeal. Our approach focuses on creating a seamless relationship between the old and new, ensuring that the new intervention complements the existing design rather than competing with it. In a recent project, we faced the challenge of integrating a new building into a historic complex. Rather than introducing a monolithic addition, we chose a strategy of smaller-scale elements that respect the dominance of the existing building. This approach preserved the character and hierarchy of the heritage structure, while also creating a fluid, functional connection between indoor and outdoor spaces. The result is a harmonious balance of new and old, creating a unified complex where both parts work in synergy.
